insulation/plastic

This spring I'm going to be adding about 16" of blown-in insulation to my attic. When I was up there sealing all the penetrations, I realized that someday, the metal siding you see behind the plastic has to come off when I have vinyl siding put on the house. Then I thought about the 16" of insulation spilling out all over the yard when this metal siding is removed, so I put the plastic up to prevent that from happening. I stapled it tight around each part of the truss. Now I'm not so sure that was a good idea as I'm wondering if the plastic will cause mold to grow on the wood when the attic heats-up this summer.

What I'm wondering is, will the plastic be alright or do I need to remove it and replace it with something else? If so, what else could I use?

There is no plastic stapled on yet in the first pic

Just one more question, once the metal siding is off, how will they nail on vinyl siding when the boards are so far apart?

There is a 3/4" to 1" board that looks like compressed wood fibers under the metal siding around the main part of the house. I've never seen this kind of board in the stores, but the house was built in the 70's, so it may not be on the market anymore. Here is a picture of it with the corner trim pulled back.
