Insulating an A-Frame Roof

I have a 2" tg pine roof, 4' c beams. I am considering using 2" or 3" hard styrophome insulation on inside and lay another tg pine paneling over this. Do I need to leave an airspace or can I put the insulation directly against existing tg pine current roof is 12x12 pitch, with 2" tg pine, 1/4 insulation and plywood then shingles

Or am I better off adding to the exterior, peeling off existing shingles, add 3" insulation followed by new roof?
