Insulate bathroom vent hose?

I was watching a diy show a few nights ago and they insulated the vent hose going from the bathroom fan through the roof. Is this something that should be done? Ive never seen or heard of it and there is no mention of it in the instructions of my vent kit.

It's a good idea to use insulated vent, especially if you live where the climate gets cold.

It prevents moisture from condensing on the inside walls of the pipe and running back to the fan, or worse, leaking out of a joint or hole in the duct and ruining a ceiling.
