I ruined my roof

I have a brandnew 26GA 5V crimp Gavalume roof...installed October 2010.
an airconditioner from an upper floor has been dripping rust water onto the lower roof. It wasn't too bad but I couldn't stand it so I researched and found a product that said it worked on everything....RUST OFF...anyway, I recieved it and the next morning poured the solution onto the roof. I was in a hurry and just did not want to take the time to do a spot check. I know...I know...haste makes waste...anyway, I followed up the application of rust off with lots of water and when It dried I noticed I ruined a large section of my roof...it looks as though the Zinc coating has been removed. Is there anything I can do short of getting new Gavalume and installing it? I don't want the roof to rust in that area and if it needs to be replaced now would be a great time as it all looks very new.
from now on I will leave the professional work to professionals
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Maybe the metal co. could send someone out to spray paint to match that section of roof, I would think the sun would bake the paint for you similar to the baking process the manufacturer does. Worth a shot!

I ruined my roof

Hi...I do not have any pictures available now. The house is in Florida and I left Florida yesterday and am now back in Colorado. Looks like the solution ate into the Zinc on the roof...
It is a different color...and you can even see the splatter from me pouring it on.
I will try and ask a friend to get a photo in the next week or two.
Thanks...

Stupidity,,,,not at all,,,judgement error who cares. It is in the runnings of stupidity if it is repeated.

I would call it a learning experience.

Could have been much worse.

Noone fell,,no animals were hurt and it can be replaced and you learned something.Priceless,,,

Thanks so much for everything...and true...no one fell, no one got hurt and I vow to take a little time and think before doing repairs etc....I agree it was a good learning experience...now...I will buy some new gavalume and have it installed and move on to another project.
Thanks for your time.
