How to vent a shed.

I'm roofing my 10x12 shed and would like to get some ventilation because it is hot as blazes plus I'm finding out it's a good idea in general. There was a ridge vent in place but after tearing off the shingles I found that there is only about a half inch opening. I doubt that this is adequate but my main problem is that there is no place for air to come in. Because this is just a shed there are no soffits. So, what can I do if anything. I appreciate your suggestions.

Then just add soffit vents.
If there's no over hang they make 3 and 4" ones the just snap in a bored hole.

Thanks Joe. I'm assuming they would go on the sides in a vertical position since there are no eaves like a house?

min. 2" opening of the plywood along the ridge. A louver in any of the walls (lower the better) will provide intake...

Thank you AG. How many should I put in for a 10x12 shed? Should they be on all four walls?

You only need as much intake as you have exhaust...

It depends on the type of ridge vent and how much of you have. That'll determine your "open area" of exhaust. Then you'll need to provide an equal amount of "open area" intake. Depending on that quantity you may want one louver, you may want two...
