How much is the going to cost me??!!

I live in British Columbia. I have a house with a flat roof, and 7 months ago the Truss broke and water was leaking like crazy once all the snow started to melt. I was told by my insurance company that my roof was going to be covered. Well since than I've been dealing with adjusters and contractors, and my roof is still not fixed. Than today I talked to the insurance company and they have now told me that they are no longer going to cover the costs of fixing my roof. I am livid!!

So who should I contact now to fix my roof and how much is this going to cost me? I'm scared!!

Thanks

After all this time, hasn't anyone bid on the work?

No nobody has done anything. I've had about 4 different people from the adjusters come look at the roof and even an engineer. Now after all this time wasted waiting for the insurance to fix it, they now said that they won't.

I think your best course of action will be to call three good roofing companies and start getting prices----

In the US there are independent adjusters that can be hired to asses the insurance claim and the cost of the work---they will fight the inscurance company to get you the correct settlement.

I don't know if Canada has this -----Mike-----

I'm guess there's a missing piece to this puzzle that your not telling us.
Care to share what it might be?
It would be highly unlikly an insurace would not want to midigate damages as soon as possible.
Have they even made you an offer on the cost of damages?
Not sure how it works there but in the US they make an offer for the cost of damages and it's up to the insured to find a contractor to fix it.
Only thing there going to do is when it happens call in a cleaning crew and a company to throw on a tarp.

No the Insurance company won't pay for any of it. They said there is no proof of what broke the Truss and they don't cover "wear and tear". I'm so mad, what is the point of paying for house insurance if they won't even do anything?

I'm going to have to call a roofing company this week and get a quote but I'm terrified on what they are going to say. I don't have a lot of money to fix it. Any ideas on what maybe the roofing company will quote?

Thanks

That's a tough question to ask---No one here has seen the broken truss---or the surrounding damages.

If you post a picture of the damaged area someone here could estimate the time it might take, but you will not get any useful pricing help.

So many things go into pricing that even guessing would not be doing you a good service.

As you can see I have a big mess on my hands...

Someone will need to come out and see that ---From here , it looks like a Beam---but without removing all the drywall that is blocking the view--and seeing the entire structure---I could now begin to guess at the best method of repair.
