Started my shed project, got all the old off, repaired the rotten, covered in felt and about half of the shingles are on. Will not be able to get to the rest for a week or so. How long does the felt last? We are expecting some rain this week but not alot.
The rain and sun will cause it to warp/buckle. This can be seen if you roof over it. Buy another roll and some more staples, you will be happier in the long run.
It simple, if you leave it out like you said it will blow off, unlike buttons. also buttons make it easier to walk on and will not rip it or indent it like a hammer tacker can. its much more tight and makes it lay flatter.
Then again thats just my personal preference as a professional roofer.
Even if using tin tabs? I always kinda liked hammer tackers with tin tabs because they were faster than tab nails and laid down pretty smooth unless I bent them up.
