How to get air into my attic

I have a ridge vent but only gable vents for intake. My eave is open with 2x6 blocking between the rafters. I need to modify the blocking somehow to let air in. Insulation is blown in, so I'll probably have to add baffles after I mod the blocking. I need about 250 sq inches of intake.

Any suggestions?

The best way would be to knock out all the blocking and add vinyl vented soffit, at the same time remove the gutters and add coil stock over the fashia.
No more painting ever.

Well, that's a lot of extra work and dollars, especially since the 20 year old fascia board is in good condition. I'm thinking more along the lines of cutting out a 14" x 2" notch in the top/center of the blocking and covering the hole with 16" x 4" screened vent. I will also add baffles in the attic.
