How do I tie in the hips and ridge caps?

Does anyone have any suggestions or links on joining the ridge caps to the caps coming up from the hips on a roof? I tried doing it and they look like crap where the three lines come together. I'm using three tab shingles as the caps. I may be using the wrong terminology, so hope the attached image helps. Thanks!

If these are architectectural shingles you should be using real hip and ridge caps not thrre tabs.
There to thin and will crack long before the shingles need replacing.
