How can I install a Soffit?? pics attached


take a look at these pictures and let me knopw what you'd reccomend!


Our overhand in the front and back of the house are covered in wood.
the inside of the attic where the over hang would me,i'm not sure where to start really.

I'm lost. You have a soffit. What is it that you want to do?

I have a soffit?? the guy at the hardware store showed me a piece of metal with holes in it, or a vent that is placed in the overhang. sorry I obviously don't know much about this, how does the cool air get it, if its comp[letely closed off on the outside?

Ok, you are asking about installing soffit venting. Do you have a ridge vent, gable vents, or attic/roof vents? You need one of these to work in conjunction with soffit venting.

I am just wondering in the picture is posted of the attic, what is that wood block??
and should I take all the insulation of of tha area?

That one wood block is what the roof rafters are attached to. Unless there is another one on the other side of that arrow i don't see. If there is its probably something for cosmetic trim work. Technically the correct thing to do would be to run the plastic shoots between those rafters. But i personally have never seen ones that wide. YOu have alot of width between those rafters. Finally you do have soffits nice looking ones. Kind of like a colorado house around a ski resort. But the metal ones spaced so many feet would be the way to go. You would just cut out a square in the soffits so many feet apart and nail over with the metal soffit vent.
