Hole in Roof

Hello,
I was just in the attic and found two holes that go right through the roof. Well I did not really "find" them, I drilled them by mistake What can I use to cover these up? Preferably from the inside of the house. It is kind of dangerous to go up in the roof (three stories) especially in the middle of winter. Thanks for your time in advanced.

I guess drilling them out would be one way to find them

How big are the holes??

I'd cut a piece of plywood bigger then the holes
Pile some roofing caulking on the plywood where the holes are
Then push the plywood up & fasten in place with screws SMALLER then the roof decking

for an emergency repair on small holes you could use a tube of roof cement and try to inject it into the holes. But i would try to get up there sooner than later and either change those shingles or a little roof cement

Thanks for your time and input. The holes are 5/8". I will combo both your ideas until we get better weather. This New England weather gets crazier every year. Thanks again.

I was afraid someone would ask. That's why I started saying "I found". I was drilling the top plate for two new outlets, the roof is slanted and the is about 1 1/2 inch clearance between top plate and roof. Went right thru both with a new bit. Scuba's comment about "one way of finding a hole" made me laugh. I thought that was going to be it, but NOOOO you had to come along and ask. Anyway, lesson learned. As long as I learn something new I don't mind making mistakes.
