gravel roof

Has anyone tried to remove a gravel roof? I bought a fixer upper and the exhisitng gravel roof and trusses needs to be replaced with new materials. Trusses will be ordered this week for delivery in 2 weeks. So the whole roof is coming off. Any ideas?

A dumpster, young men with something to prove and implements of destruction.

Grab a shovel, pitch fork, anything with an edge on it.

Shove it into the membrane so as to cut it open.

Peel it off, Scrape off whatever is left stuck to the decking.

That's it. Unless there's insualtion screwed to the deck. Then you'll have to remove the fasteners to get that off.

This is not a finesse job.

Have at it and let loose the dogs of war!

gravel roof

I just watched my neighbor do this the other day to his gravel/moss roof. Young men, implements of destruction, and a dumpster seem to be the industry standard as stated above.

Not to joke or make smart comments, but the typical day labor is very good at this sort of work. If you know of a place where you can pick up some day laborers (read, mexicans) like Labor Ready, etc., they will make short work of scraping off your BIR for not too much money. The tools are shovels, picks, pitchforks, a dumpster, and a supply of mexicans.

Havn't said anything about hiring illegals, but thanks for your opinion.

By the way, Mexico is in America.
