FLAT ROOF: what to use?

Hi, is there anything else to put on a flat roofs other then SUPER EXPENSIVE pored tar or rubber? We want to replace the tar paper and shingles.. We live in mn (very harsh) Could the ice barrier made by Grace products work? Then shingles again? Its over a dormer and no leaks so far but all the shingles blew off. Any creative ideas would be greatly appreciated!

FLAT ROOF: what to use?

A flat roof, by definition, is either less than 2 1/2/12 or 2/12 pitch.

Why would you already have shingles on a flat roof?

If it is truly defined as flat, then a suitable flat roofing material could be used, which I presume is for a small area.

Modified Bitumen, which is either a fully adhered or hot torch application material would do just fine for a small flat roof, done by the proper technician who knew proper application methods and safety procedures.

If it borders on the 3/12 pitch, then a full underlayment of Ice and Water Shield and then the composition asphalt or fiberglass shingles could be applied on top of the membrane.

Not too sure what you mean by flat roof.
I have used this on low slope roofs, my own in fact.

I had a converted front porch with a 2/12. I used Grace Ice & water, then this product. Not a leak in 7+ years. Even with ice dams and New England weather.
