Our roof is leaking and we would like to take care of it cheaply because we would like to add onto our house soon. One roofer said that he would cover it with some kind of acrylic stuff and another roofer said he would put a layer of 501 Premium SBS Glass Sheet to repair area's and install fiberglass Ply sheet in a solid mopping of hot bitumen. A third roofer said they would repair with flash band and then apply asphalt/clay emulsion to the entire roof. Does anybody know what to do? Or is their another method? Kris

what kind of roof do you have????(hot tar?modified bitumen???,hot tarwith embedded gravel??,tpo?,pvc?----and can you post a picture so we would have a clue,2nd doesn`t sound bad if it`s a hot tar roof, you have to repair problem areas before any coating will be worth a d*mn--please post pictures of the roof so we can say better what to do

As TRG stated already, the 2nd contractor seemed to have the better laid out specification for you.

Other factors that we should know, are, what is the time frame before the addition gets done and will that be encompassing this same area?

Please post a photo of the area and provide more details about the existing roof system and the nature of the leak, as in, where does it seem to be coming in from and are there any roof top protrusions in the area?
