fix'n nail pops

i had a nail pop. i got up there and pulled the nail. shingle still stayed up about 1/2"ish. i put some automotive grade silicone in there and a few bricks on top.
temps about 45deg, low 30's over night.

bad idea or ok ?

fix'n nail pops

The way to do it is to drive a fresh nail in near the old one, seal the old hole with roofing cement, seal the edge of the shingle with roofing cement, then use the brick to hold the shingle down for long enough for the seal to dry. So if you are hoping automotive regrade silicone and a few bricks are a permanent fix, then no it's not ok.
