Finishing the underside of a shed roof
I am building a small 12x20 "cabin" for my father to live in. We will be putting a shed roof on it. Can I simply finish the underside of the rafters (2x8) with sheet rock to create the finished ceiling? If so, are there any things to consider or be concerned about?

Could you go back and add where you live to your profile, If not people are going to be asking over and over.
Were going to need that to let you know about what insulation your going to need.
Why a shed style roof and not a gable roof?
With a gabled roof it's easer to vent so the building stays cooler in the summer and the shingles last longer.
Have you checked to see if a permit is needed?

I live in Texas permit necessary. We figured the shed roof would be easier to frame for us.

Easyer to frame but it would be like an oven in there.
You could even just order trusses already made. There not that expencive.

What do you plan on for a foundation?

Pier and beam ... floor is framed and decked and walls are framed. Planning on roll insulation plus foam board for insulation.

You did insulate under the floor and add a vaper barrer on the ground, right?
2 x 6 walls? Really need them so you can fit in enough insulation.
