fascia cover over fascia and barge boards

my gutters need replacing, and the facia board is quite rotted at three corners. I'm considering the option of facia cover, but not sure if this is the righ decision, as compared to repairing the facia and repainting. In addition, at the front there is a large gable, flush with the wall, no gutter, tiles bedded above the barge board. To put the facia cover over the barge board the gutter told me he will have to break the bedding. Is this a good idea.

What color is the fascia?

If it is white, just go back with Azek or a similar PVC/composite board and be done with it.

whether you cover the fascia or not you still need to replace the rot.
