Facia and Decking Materials
I am going to have to replace my facia and decking on my house as I replace the gutters and downspouts. My local lumber yard has stated that many people have used a vinyl paintable composite that once painted looks like new wood. The lumber yard staff told me that it is more resistant to rot, and squirrel or woodpecker damage.
Does anyone have any experience with materials and can provide some feedback?
Are you under any gudelines from your local historic commission? That needs to be addresed first, plus they usually have good sources for matching historic materials.
The composites look nice, but are extremely expensive, so I prefer to match wood from local jobbers who specialize in stocking the desired profiles.
