Exceptible beam to replace tresses
Ok here's what I want to do;
I have a 24x24 garage Im attaaching to my house to convert to a family
room. It has typical 2x4 tress system, I want to vault the ceiling,,
So my thought is this, 2"x12", times 3" thick 24' long beam resting on 6x6 post, to take the load,,
then taking 2x6s and cisterning them along the 2x4s that run the ceiling.
so here's my delima; what would be the strongest way to connect the 2x6s
to the 24' beam that would be acceptible to an inspector,,,,any professional opinion would be greatly appreciated,,,
Thank you for taking time to respond
desperate beam man .
I would seek the advice of an engineer familiar with your local building codes. That is the best way to satisfy the inspector.
