EPDM Roof at door sill.

I have a deck over my attached garage. There is a sliding door leading out to the deck. Currently, there is a corrugated metal roof over the garage with a floating treated wood deck. I had a water leak by the door that I fixed with tar albeit temporary. I now have a new leak. I think it is best to replace the roof. I have worked with epdm before and the roof is small enough that I would not have any joints. At the sliding door, there is only about 1-2 inches of height between the roof and the door. So, how could I get a proper seal? If it involves removing the sliding door to install the membrane on the sill and finishing the inside corners of the door frame with epdm corners, how difficult is it to remove and reinstall a sliding door? Or, possibly with French doors?

Thanks,

Mark

Not terribly difficult.

If you are re-doing that roof, you probably have all the skills that it would take to hang a door.

A.- No biggie. Pull the door and install a 'cut-to fit' 2x and run the EPDM up it like the wall is done.
B.- Alternatively, pull the door and install a sill pan under and around it. Run the EPDM into and up the pan. It can still overflow in heavy rain though.
C.- Do B., then install a 'cut-to fit' 2x and run the EPDM up it like the wall is done too.

NO PENETRATIONS allowed in sill pan areas! Glue, or free float only.
