Enclosed entryway is leaking how to seal?

I have a closed entry over a brick floor. We noticed that when it rains that it leaks inside. I don't think they sealed the wood to the bricks. I know I will need to check for mold because I think it has been like this for 20 years. However I want to seal it before winter to help keep our house warmer. What can i use to seal it? I put duct tape there for now. Sorry that the pictures are upside down. Thanks for advice.

I live in NM in the mountains so we get a decent amount of snow, but it isn't humid typically. Here is a shot of the inside. Last winter I put curtains up in between this room and the house and this room would be incredibly cold.

Re: Enclosed entryway is leaking how to seal?

I hate to be the bearer of bad new--that (most likely) was built without water proofing and is missing a Z-flashing at the bottom to direct the water from behind the exterior wood ,out beyond the brick.

The right solution will be to remover the exterior siding--add Tyvek house wrap or tat paper--with a metal z molding at the bottom to direct water to the outside of the brick.

Also--removing the sheeting behind the siding might be wise--I bet that the insulation is missing or under sized--

I was thinking I might be in trouble. Is there a temporary fix I can calk or something like that? I'm in the middle of a kitchen and bath remodel so i pretty much want to just patch it up for this winter and then redo it next summer.

Water is getting behind the siding---and also hitting the brick and working its way under the wall---

Caulk the wall joints--and the siding/ brick connection---that might help although the siding / brick connection might keep the wall from draining out---your call---it was a bad original design---the maker forgot that water gets behind siding--

Sorry, have to agree, looks like someone tried to use duct tape instead of the proper flashing.

Re: Enclosed entryway is leaking how to seal?

So to get ready for winter I bought this foam spray insulation. I just want to seal up the room so it isn't so cold. I'll have to look at how to really fix it next summer. The question I have is would you seal it inside the room or outside or both? I am in NM so most things dry out, but there is a chance moisture is in between the walls.
