I recently purchased a 1945 Tudor house in upstate NY. The stucco exterior was just redone last year. I'm interested in adding flower boxes to the upper window and the lower left window. That said, I do not want to damage anything with my first project for my new house! The upper window has a timber trim under it, and the lower window just has stucco.
Is there a way to anchor a flower box to this wall without damaging it? Should I drill into the wood? Would any of this cause cracking/leaking/rot?
Drilling into the stucco or the wood is very likely to allow water in and damage it.
You get the damage from where you attach it, the splash back on the wall and an area behind it that does not dry out.
