dormers with no flashing

I have an 80 year old brick cape cod. The roof was replaced several years ago--but the roofer did not put flashing around the dormers!!! What can be done to keep the water out?? can flashing be placed on top of the shingles?? Is there a putty that can be used for a temporary fix until spring?? help please!!!

dormers with no flashing

Are you sure that they didn't re-use the old flashing?
(Not what we would do - better than nothing!)
Up the sides of the dormer - the flashing probably will be under the shingles -
you wouldn't see it.
On the front of the dormer - should be exposed - over the shingles.
How do you know there's no flashing - leaks?
Pictures help!?
