Do I have to paint?

Hi,
I am adding soffit vents. I cut openings. Could anybody tell me if it is a good idea to paint inside as far as I can reach to prevent wood from rotting as there will be now access for air?

Thanks,
Dmitriy

No need to paint the inside. maybe the cut edges but that isn't even done. No water should get in there. On the other hand, it wouldn't hurt anything either.

Don't have to paint

If it will not be exposed to moisture, then don't spend time painting. Although painting won't hurt it, you probably have better things to do
