cutting metal roofing
Happy 4th........... I need to cut an end (going along rake) peice 26 gauge 5 V panel. I am planning on using a circular saw w/ metal blade (instead of buying a nibbler) any advice on how this will work? I was planning on cutting a "test" piece first.

If you're buying a specific metal cutting blade dis regard the rest of my post, but I've always kept an old circ saw blade laying around that i turn around backwards to cut steel roofing. Why backwards? Cause my dad always did and it worked great. Very loud though, so grab some plugs or muffs. Good luck!

The edge won't look the best, and the noise is a killer, but a reversed circular saw blade is the easiest way to do it, and cheaper then trying an abrasive blade. That said, if there is any chance of moisture getting to the cut edge, protect it with paint or silicone, simply because you will have broken the "cladding" and have a raw edge, it will rust.

By far the best blade for the money. Smooth cut (always wear ear/eye protection no matter what blade). You'll pay anywhere from $17-35 depending on where you find it. These blades last longer and cut smoother than the $70 tenryu blades.

You won't find it in any bigbox or hardware store. Check local Saw/tool shops would be your best bet. I get them very cheap since my BIL has a saw/tool shop. Actually, he will ship anywhere so...
