Concealed Roof Guttering on a 1930s Solid Brick Home

I am faced with the challenge of replacing concealed guttering on a 1930s solid brick art-deco home. The house has some heritage overlays and hence I cant go over the top in replacing whats on there....

Are concealed gutters good / bad / undesirable...?

Can we fix them or am I better off pulling them out & replacing them with something more "todays time" - if I am allowed to do so....

Thanks in advance.

Like the slyfox stated post a picture. here we call them Yankee gutters, and I have relined about five in my time. most time the owners let them leak for so long that most of the time the damage is so far gone, that it would be cheaper to close them up after the damage was repaired. Personally I like them and would like to see them repaired.BOB
