Circular Cut - Fiber cement siding

Hello

Power Meter on side of house with elbow 90 degress into the siding 7" above starter strip

Powers been shutdown and I have it pulled away from the wall. Its about a 3" Round cut ill have to make somehow.

How do you cut siding or design trim around the elbow that goes into the side.

Router?

I also thought about boxing around the entire thing but that would look kind of stupid with a dark siding with white outlined trim.

Jig saw, hole saw, personally I wouldn't let any of my router bits near that stuff.

There is also an electric siding shear saw that is made specifically for "Hardie" boards and will cut a radius. I know Makita makes one and I am sure there are other manufacturers have their own version.

Multi tool with a half moon carbide chip blade should work

All of these suggestions will work. But... The siding shear will not give you a clean cut, they are more for straight lines mostly. The hole saw is expensive and will be ruined. The multi tool with carbide blade would be hard to get a clean line as well. Use a jig saw and consider the blade done for after a few cuts, they are cheap.

I would go with the oscillating saw (i.e. multi tool that jagans mentioned).

It is easier to controls and be sure to keep the dust down with either a vacuum or spritz it with water.

I use a split flush mount siding block.

I lay it on a piece of plywood and stand on it, line the pilot bit with the center of the opening and use a hole saw to make the round hole.
