A quick question about my chimney. I'm in Northern NJ and during the recent rainstorm we had I was in the attic and noticed water coming in through my chimney. I'm not sure if it's the flashing or if it's leaking right through the brick. The cement job towards the top of the chimney in the attic looks horrible to me as it looks like it was oozing out and just dried like that rather than scraping the excess away when it was done. My question is do I call a chimney guy or a roofing guy? Or do most do both? I'd like to get this looked at asap as I don't want it to get worse. Any advice/suggestions would be great.
I would call a roofer first because I have seen roofs leak more often that chimneys, but chimneys do leak.
