Capping shingles for ShingleventII

I am installing shinglevent II. I am intending to cap with 3 tab shingles but tabs are almost 13" wide and almost totally cover the vent holes on the ridge cap.

Should I cut the tabs down to 11 1/2" inches wide to match the solid portion of the vent or should I leave them at 13"?

Never mind , got my answer after reading online install instructions. Do not cover the vent holes.
