Can see outside at Chimney / roof line

So I just had my chimney rebuilt and when I went to the attic, there were about 5 spots where I could see daylight where the brick meets the roof line. I could actually see outside of my house. So I spoke to the guy that did it and they came out and said it was fixed.

Their fix was just gobbing a bunch of caulk into the gaps. Even with the caulk, I can still see spots where they missed.

Should this be happening? To me, it doesn't sound right at all.

Should they put up all new flashing?

Thanks

No that should not be happening.

Can you post a picture or two from the outside?

Definitely get those holes sealed----You will be infested with Yellow Jackets.

If its all flashed properly there should be no holes to seal.

Does anyone care about pride of workmanship anymore? :whistling2: Goop and smear's? Yeah that will fix it:eek:

Tar and sealants are a roofs version of duct tape a.k.a Arkansas chrome.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I have told him that I want the flashing redone.

Post the guys name on "Angie's List" or something similar...he's rippin' you off, and likely has ripped off many before.
Just my two cents...

Horrible advice.

Sorry you feel that way, but I feel like jack legs should be outed every time they rear their heads. Back in the old days when I was a framing carpenter(licensed., bonded and registered) when we caught guys pushing crap work, we took 'em down the road and, well use your imagination. There are lots of reputable, responsible craftsmen out there...no reason that some unethical folks should make it hard for everyone else.
But as I said...just my two cents.

There are two sides to every story. Could be something more.

It would be more effective to get opinions of other contractors. We haven't even seen pictures yet.

Last pic of the top.

I took a bunch more pics. But hopefully you guys can give me some advice on what my next steps should be in this situation.

Thanks again!
