Can I remove End Box

On my house the soffit and facia were covered with pvc afew years ago. At the time i was assured all rotten wood would be repaired or replaced. I have recently discovered non of the wood was replaced. So I have three end boxes with rotten wood. Can I remove the end boxes, and have the barge board just meet the soffit and facia at the gable end.

Sweetafton, I am not exactly clear on what you want to do. The barge fascia runs down and connects with the front and rear fascia, the bird box covers the end of the cornice where the two fascias meet. Removing the bird box will expose the open end of the soffit and not look good. Is that what you wanted to do?

Can I remove End Box

On the gable end is a barge and a soffit which go down to the corner of the house, which meet up with the facia and soffit on the front of the house. Where all these meet at the corner of the house at wall plate level is the end box, which seems to me as a large empty space, with a frame which in my case is rot.
Instead of replacing the end box, can i not just run the barge board down to meet the facia and the two soffits meet at the corner. What i am really asking is there any need for the end box.

Once you take the box off you will see why it is there. I don't mean to sound like a smart alack in my statement.
