bundle formula

What is the formula used to figure out how many bundles of shingles I'll need to reshingle my roof? And how much extra should I account for waste?

3 bundles per 100 sq ft is normal
Some require 4 bundles - "lifetime" & 50 yr shingles
I figure out what I need - round up
Then I may buy another bundle if needed

I do what dave said as well. Most suppliers will accept returns within 30 days...so I typically round up 2 just to be safe. Being short at the end of a job and having to go fetch more supplies is a time buster.
