building deck on new tpo roof.

I am currently renovating an old house in Richmond, Va, and I have a question about TPO roofs. The home inspector swore that the existing roof was in good condition, however I found out later that this was not the case.

I had a brand new TPO roof installed and also a decent sized roof access built. The main section of the roof has a very low pitch and I want to build a small deck directly on top of the tpo. Are there any precautions I should take to protect the tpo?

Also I am planning on building a barrier fence to keep people away from the roof edge and I will need to penetrate the TPO on the parapet walls ( the house is a brick row house) to secure the barrier fence. What will I need to do to flash in these penetrations, I was thinking about using some silicone, but I want to do it right, so if I need to I will call the roofer back out.

Thanks,
Lawrence

Call the roofer back, or give tinner a call. You should have this done by a proffesional and done right the first time. Quality TPO is a Cadillac. You donít want patch a Cadillac with kia parts.

The deck will be laying on top of the new tpo, not anchored in, the only intentional tpo penetrations will be on the parapet wall. I guess my question should be restructured. What should I do to protect the new tpo under the floating deck?
