Best way to remove slate roofing
What is the best way to remove slate on my roof? It is not those separate pieces of slate but it is sort of like those concrete ones. It also has pebbles on top of the slate. I was wondering about how clean I have to remove it and what is the best way to do it?
Thank you

Best way to remove slate roofing
My roof is covered with snow at the moment so I've googled a roof similar to mine. My roof is sort of like the picture here:

there are like sand and pebbles.
I plan on doing this myself

So you have a tar and gravel built-up roof. (BUR) The gravel is just there to protect the actual roof from the environment. You confused me saying a slate roof.
Gotta agree with the others, yours is not very DIY friendly. What did you plan on replacing it with?

+1
Not your average DIY project but can be done. I would suggest that you work with a roofer on this project though.

Especially if they're so uninformed they're using "slate" to refer to BUR.

Also not the most DIY friendly choice.
How big is the roof in question?
BUR can be removed with a shingle tear-off tool, but it's pretty labor intensive, especially when covered with gravel.

It is barely contractor friendly.
Please do not be attempting this roof on your own. You have a much higher than acceptable risk of burning your house down.

It's one of the few roofing operations we don't do. That and BUR.

Best way to remove slate roofing
Even after 30 years of doing it I still get a bit antsy when I start a torchdown. This is about the only type of roofing that I will not give any DIY advice on. Odds are high the results will be one of two things. Either it will be installed incorrectly or, worse yet, you will burn the structure down.

That's why I'm not offering any advice here either. Sorry.
