Best coating

I am new to this forum and to roof coating too. My handyman/painter told me to get my roof checked before he paints second floor ceilings. The front and back of the roof are slanted and covered by ceramic tiles, the mid-portion is flat and is probably black tar/asphalt. The painter told me that he paints his own roof every other year, with "roof paint". I started researching the Net and discovered that there are many different "paints": acrylic, urethane, liquid rubber, etc. In my neighborhood I never saw anything but traditional shingles or flat roofs, tar or gravel. Once I saw a white garage (flat) roof. I have no idea whether it was some kind of professional covering or was it painted white.
I have trouble finding objective information online: every company presents its product as absolutely "the best" (or the best for the money). I'd like to hear an objective info, from a professional or from DIY-er (in the latter case, a single experience counts if I hear "I used XYZ product about 10 years ago and it still looks good".
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Some information can be found on my website. Read that then ask any specific questions you may have and I will be happy to answer to the best of my ability: Roof coatings

The questions I have for you is: Are you looking to extend the life of your roof or are you looking for UV reflectivity?
