Bad Roofing Job question

Ok we bought a house 5 years ago and told them to replace the roof before we bought it.
Well here it is 5 years later and the back half of the house lost the point shingles from a windstorm, then rain came and the interior got soaked.
What I noticed was they did not use any type of felt paper.
They just threw down plywood and shingled over it.
Is there something I can do about this? or is that a norm for roofing.
Also we just found out that it wasnt done by a roofer, but by the family who lived here and no they arent roofers.
I dont know if theres a statue of limitation on goin after them for this or if I just have to call my insurance company and fix it myself.
Thanx for any info

Bill

Manufacturer specifications call for an underlayment.

Point shingles? You mean ridge caps?

Are you sure there is no underlayment or is it possible they ran short in that specific area and the rest of the roof doe's indeed have it.

Will you need an entire new roof because a few shingles blew off or because there was no underlayment installed, maybe, maybe not.

Could we see a few pictures?

An attorney might serve you best in this situation.
