Attic Venting With No Roof Overhang

I have a 900 sq ft sears house that I notice the attic is getting mold and the roof deck is rotting for improper venting. I know its not vented right but there is no roof overhang for sofit venting. The space between the gutter and house is 2 1/4". There are two gable vents and three roof vents (non powered) toward the top of the roof.

I want to install attic fans on both gables. I want one to suck air in and the other to suck air out. Does this make sense? My friend said this is never done like this. Any better ideas? I was thinking it would make a great cross breeze.

I'll also insulate better. There is some, but the main issue is the poor venting.

Air seal before you insulate and you will largely reduce the moisture even going into the attic.

After that, a gable fan run an a humidistat works and there are options for soffit/eave venting as well.

Can you install side vents at the bottom corners of the house and roof line, so that the ridge venting can pull air up that way? Also, still install baffles along the bottom edge, due to air will seep through the gaps where the soffit would actually be. Adding a Powered vent fan as what we did, can help to speed up the cooling process, without adding the lower vents, but you also have to air seal any access points to the attic, so conditioned air does not seep through into the attic space.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

Is there any problem with a powered fan on both gable vents? One to suck in and the other to suck out? Or should I just power one gable vent?

If im not mistaken, gable vents combined with roof vents will only circulate the upper part of the attic.
In other words, wouldnt any air drawn in by the gable push out the roof without drawing air upward?
Its like leaving two windows open next to each other and expecting cross ventilation... does not seem logical.
