Adding roof overhang before new shingles

Hello all,

I will be getting a new roof in the near future and am wondering if I could get some input on how I might go about adding overhangs to the old part of my house that does not have any. My how was built in 1945 with in addition someone put on maybe 15 years ago.

The rafters are simple 2x4"s without any real support. The roof will be getting OSB sheathing over the old 1x12's. I am looking to extend the otherwise non-existent overhang by no more than 12". Any longer that that and it is going to come down over the windows.

I will try to attach some pics of the attic and the outside of the house to include the addition and the old part.

Remove the fascia, and get whatever sized wood the rafters are made of. Cut in 30" lenghts and notch for the top plate. Level back to the house for the soffit height and clips the bottms off where the soffit sleepers/framing, will land, add soffit and new fascia.
The finished product will have the appearance of a triangle when viewed from the gable end.
