I am building a simple pole shed to shelter my outdoor woodstove and store fire wood. The shed is 22' x 22' with a post and beam 4/12 roof. The beams at the peak and at the eves are about 3" x 8" wood bridge plank. The outside rafters are made from the same timbers. I was thinking of using some old barn lumber for the rafters. I have some 2" x 10" boards I salvaged and I was thinking of ripping them down to 2" x 5" boards. Or I am going to use some 2" x 8" salvaged boards. Anyone have any suggestions? Do you think these would work and what about the spacing for each? Does anyone know of a website for designing your own rooves. I have also salvaged some 2" x 3" that I plan to use for the purlins. I was planning to install them with the 3" side against the rafter. Then I plan to put steel on the roof.
I would appreciate any information.
