#30 Felt vs. 30lb Felt--What's the difference? Just called something different? Same thing? One better/worse?

30 lb. felt weighs 30 lbs per square. 15 lb weighs 15 lbs per square. That’s was back in the day, like with everything else getting scaled back it’s now called #30 felt which is about the same as what 15 lb. used to be.

I’m not even sure if 30 lb. is still available.

so if I two estimates and one says #30 and the other says 30lb, they aren't the same? If I understand you correctly? Thanks.

It's now #30 felt. Some people still call it 30#. My local options are #15 or #30. A 2 sq roll used to weigh 60lbs. It doesn't anymore.

I mostly use synthetic underlayments. A lot of people call them synthetic "felt". There's no resemblance to felt although it serves the same purpose.
