2/12 patio cover - shingle?
I'm going to be assisting my dad finish up a patio cover at my brothers house.
The roof is a free standing flat roof with a 2/12 pitch, not attached to the house at all.
I've been reading posts here and do realize that a rolled roof is recommended for this little of a slope.
We are planning on going with asphalt shingles as my brother and his wife prefer that look:
- Location is Texas; not worried about ice.
- This is just a patio cover.
Assuming we do go with the shingles as planned...
What is the suggestion for the finished top edge of the roof?
I understand starting with drip edge, tar paper, reverse first course, etc.
But with a flat roof (no traditional ridge); do we finish the top edge with a drip edge?
I do plan on bringing up the rolled roof idea.
Links on rolled roofing to pass on?
It would be more durable if you have some .032 aluminum bent up for the exact pitch profile though, to extend on the top of the flat roof and come down vertically on the upper sides fascia.
