12/12 pitch rafter

My shed is 20/20, how do I build a 12/12 pitch rafter that will work on my walls?

Your shed is 20/20 what? Does that mean it can see good?

No reason to waste time chalking lines on a floor.

Okay then,
Please do a tutorial about 'how to lay out a common rafter on a 20' wide shed with a 12/12 pitch.

Thank you

If you're saying your shed is 20' wide, you rafters are 172.04", minus 1/2 the width of the ridge, from long point to short point, measured across the top of the rafter. The long point being the ridge, the short point squared (45) across the board to the seat cut on the wall. Got it? (its called the pothagerium theory-a+b=c)

Unless you want some overhang. Then, you need to add a bit more depending on how you want the overhang. And to see how each lenght would look, you may then have to lay it out on the floor.

Actually it's pythagorean.
And, no, I have nothing useful to add. I'm just enjoying your exchanges. The spell-check was just an excuse to post...

Carry On

Thank-you. I figured I spelled it wrong. Heck I can barely say it. It's some mathematicians name I think.
