1.5" - 2" gap between plywood and roof gable

There is a 1.5" - 2" gap between the plywood and the roof gable in my new roof. The roofing company says it is fine, but I am not so sure. The roof has been on a year and there hasn't been any leaks. I haven't paid the entire bill yet and won't until all the work is finished, this is just one issue. Is it an issue?

I've included a picture that I took in the attic.

Was this a metal roof at one time?
There wrong plywwod needed to be run all the way to the edges of the roof.
You are going to have them install a drip cap , right?
What's going to happen when the wind blows toward the gable and the nails are that far back from the edge of the roof. By By shingles.
The shingles will also tip down and look bad that way.

It use to be a cedar shingle roof. The plywood is missing along the ridge cap.

That would not be that difficult to fix, they should not be fighting you on that...it is incorrect.

If this was the only issue on the roof they would fix it to get paid. I suspect far greater issues are the problem because it has been a year and you still have not paid. What else is wrong ?

I'm still waiting for the company to decide what they are going to do about the damage to my gutters and siding. I did pay for half of the job after the window that was damaged was replaced. After that I didn't hear from them again. I still owe quite a bit of money, but they're not asking for it. Nor are they doing the repairs.

Have you got bids on the items you want fixed ? I find it strange they do not want to collect, i think we are missing some of the story.

If it were me, i'd like to get it resolved so i can move on. I would get bids on the punch list items and then contact the roofing company. Give them the option to fix it, or for you to have it done and take it off the final payment.

If your punch list is important to you then you should be moving toward getting things fixed.
