Tuscan leveling system

Question about this or other similar systems that might exist: I've never used them, but it seems to me that if this thing lifts a corner of a tile to level with the neighboring tile, aren't you leaving a gap below the corner of that tile? I don't think you need 100% coverage on a tile, but you also don't want an air space under the corner of a tile - the most vulnerable place. Am I missing something?

When I use a leveling clip system, I usually use a deeper trowel--often 1/2"----the systems work very well--

I find myself using it more often with the large tiles that are currently popular.

Some lifting and back buttering may be needed if you don't have a truly flat floor---

I use the Lash system.
