Trowel size help

What is the recommended trowel size for the 2x2 porcelain shower floor sheets that come in 12x12?

Is it v-notch 3/16"x5/32"? That is what a google search said, but I would rather hear it from someone on this board who has installed them, just to make sure.

Thanks

Abs

Trowel size help

Although you told us the tiles are 2x2 in size, you didn't mention how thick they are. That would make a difference. They could be about 3/16" porcelain or 1 cm. stone tiles. (over 3/8" thick).

However you're on the right track. 3/16x1/4" V or 3/16" square will work. Remember how the thin set is mixed and the angle you hold the trowel contributes in addition to the tile's thickness.

In general "V" trowels were used for mastic, while square were used for thin set mortar which of course is what you want for tiles.
