Toilet In Shower Pan Waterproofing

I am building a wet room area in our bathroom. It is 9.5' x 3' The whole thing is going to be tiled with a mud pan sloping to the shower side of the room. On the opposite end, there will be the toilet. What is the proper way to install and waterproof the toilet flange? Should I secure the flange to the subfloor (plywood) and use extenders to make up the difference in height from the tile/backerboard/mud, etc? Should I mount the flange on top of the finished tile and drill through everything for the screws to fasten to the subfloor?

How could I waterproof the flange?

Thanks,

Richard

What are you using to waterproof the area? Schluter Ditra? Kerdi?
Latacrete--Hydroban???

We need to know these things as each system uses different drains.-----Mike----

I'll ask the tile guy tomorrow when he comes. I was just hoping to get an idea to make sure he is planning to do it correctly. I am going to be running the plumbing.

The whole area must be waterproofed before the tiling---do a flood test--24 Hours--before the tile goes in.

He is planning to waterproof, I just wasn't sure how the waterproofing works around a toilet flange. I get how it is done w/ an adjustable height shower drain, but a toilet flange is at one height, and has no weep holes etc. I also wasn't sure if the flange should be mounted on top of the tile, or to the subfloor and use extenders to build up the height for mud/tile etc.
