Tiling over cement patio

When tiling over a cement patio, what type of tile do I need to use. Any special tips would be helpful as well.

Tiling over cement patio

If freezing can happen look for a tile with an impervious rating.--These are dense enough not to absorb water.---Mike---

Any "quarry tile" or "porcelain tile" is usually suitable for exterior use when freeze/thaw is an issue.

The "ratings" have nothing to do with the body of the tile, they only refer to the wear-surface and suitability of an application as it relates to wear surface.

A tile rated at a 4 or 5 doesn't make it suitable for exterior use. Those ratings are not what determines a tile can be used out of doors.
