Tile over vinyl floor or tear out?

Thanks in advance for any responses. I'm in the planning stages of remodeling my bathroom, I've decided to go tile. My house was built in early 60's and I am debating on whether to tile over the old floor or tear it out. I will send out a sample for asbestos testing and I plan to use Ditra as well. Is there a downside to going over the old floor, it's in great shape just ugly. I want to do it right but am I doing myself any favors by ripping out a floor I won't see anyways? Or is it cutting corners by leaving it in and it will come back to bite me someday?

I see no reason why you can't put Ditra over vinyl.

Tile over vinyl floor or tear out?

Floor height would be my main concern, I tore the vinyl out of my kitchen because my new floor would have been #3 and WAY too high.

You're right and I don't know what the heck I was reading. I thought the op was asking whether or not to remove the old vinyl. I went back and re-read it and there is no mention of vinyl.
I must be frying or something.

Edit: I'm not frying. It says it in the title.
Quack.
I better quit before I get anymore behind.
