Thicker tile
I am redoing my powder bathroom and the previous owner put in a pedestal sink which I took out. But when taking it out the tile broke. Instead of looking for one to match I have some left over tile that a friend gave me that i was considering using to retile the powder, but it is thicker than the tile that is already there.

Existing tile is 5/16" and the new tile is 1/2". So there would be a 3/16" difference going in to the bathroom. Do you guys have any suggestions on how i can make that transition if I were to use the new tile?

I did not see that there was a tile section. Please move this if necessary

I can not think of anyway to do it.
Time to look for a new tile.

I agree---is this a wall tile or floor tile that broke?

Its a floor tile that will be under a floating vanity. So the main question now is can I use the tile my friend gave me and how can I make that transition from 5/16 to a 1/2 tile

What is the underlayment made of?You must dig a hole so the tile is flush with the existing after it is installed---

That is a lot of work--is this tile an exact match or something special?

What is the substrate?

Just go look at wooden transitions that change level.

Under the tile is concrete. this is on the first floor

The new tile is different from the existing

I think I might go see if i can find a transition strip that could work..... or make one
