Supporting Granite countertop

Support for countertop

Posted my question on the carpentry forum(link above) and got some good feedback but still not 100%. We are replacing the countertop you see in the pics(it is formica and wood) and replacing it with a 5' long by 2'-2" wide heavy countertop. It's either going to be granite or some other heavy material. We removed two columns that were non load bearing so now we only have one column as you can see. THat is a wine cooler we moved there temp during construction. We are going to do away with the 2x4's you see but are not sure what will def support it. On the other forum they mentioned using 2x6 with top plates, cross braces, corbels etc. and try to center it as much as possible. We are not going to have cabinets underneath. Just trying to get this sides take.input. Thank you very much. Don't want the counter to break off.....
